WEmpower Research Conference 2020

The aim of the WEmpower Research Conference (WRC) 2020 was to promote international networking and scientific exchange amongst researchers. WEmpower Pakistan in collaboration with the prestigious Institute of Chemistry at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (ICCAS) hosted the WEmpower Research Conference 2020, on January 5th, 2020.

Young researchers and academics talked about cutting edge research in Science, Engineering, and Technology, with a focus on applications and commercialization of academic research.

The welcome speech was delivered by the host of the program: Professor Dr. Sun Wen-Hua, which was followed by opening remarks from Assistant Director of ICCAS Professor Dr. Sheng Gui He. In his speech, Dr. Sheng Gui He encouraged young and ambitious women to develop research collaborations.

The list of guests included Dr. Yang Wenhong, Dr. Yanping Ma, Dr.  Peng Cheng and Dr. Sonali Sachdeva. Keynote speakers included Dr. Hassina Tabassum, Dr. Ayeesha Mujeeb, Farzeen Shahid, Arfa Abrar Malik, Sadia Ahmed and Ayesha Ahmed.

The history-hall tour of ICCAS was the courtesy of the institute staff, director ICCAS and the core team members of WEmpower Pakistan. The participants also took part in a demonstration of NMR equipment.

The event concluded with a poster session, organized by Lariab Nisar and Anam Ashraf. Pakistani women academics from various institutes of Beijing, presented their research through printed and electronic posters. The posters were presented by Rabia Asghar, Gul Naz, Rida Batool, Madiha Rasheed, Abida Parveen, Bushra Sana Idrees, Farzeen Shahid, Qudsia Zeb, Sehriesh Abrar, Laraib Nisar and Saira Shams. The posters were evaluated by Dr. Yang Wenhong, Dr. Yanping Ma, Dr. Peng Cheng and Dr. Sonali Sachdeva.

In the end, the participants and poster presenters were awarded with certificates to encourage their involvement in networking events such as the WRC, 2020.
