Dr. Arfa Abrar Malik - Chief Information Officer (CIO)

Arfa Abrar Malik is an energetic young chemist and international Ph.D scholar. She has
completed her Master to Ph.D degree major in Chemistry and Physics of Polymers from
Institute of Chemistry Chinese Academy of Sciences Beijing, China in November, 2022. Her
research work is focused on Organometallics Catalysis, transition metal complexes, olefin
polymerization. She has worked on the synthesis of transition metal complexes and study of
their catalytic behavior towards ethylene polymerization. She successfully synthesized
organometallic complexes of Iron and Cobalt and correlated her experimental results with the
models/simulations, which she computed during her MS research. She also managed to
successfully publish research projects based on the simulation and models of the transition metal
complexes and their enhancement as catalysts in ethylene oligo/polymerization.
From October 2021-July 2022, she has been working as Collaborative Exchange Researcher at
Department of Chemistry; Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad Pakistan where she synthesized
different imide based ligands and advanced further for complexes.
From September 2020-Febraury 2021, she was working as a Visiting Lecturer at Government
Postgraduate College Jhelum, Pakistan where she taught “Research Methodology” to bachelor
classes
She graduated with a BS (Hons.) in Chemistry from the Government Postgraduate College
Jhelum (GPGCJ) in 2015. She has completed her B.Ed from University of Sarghoda in 2016.
In 2015-2016, she lectured at the Punjab College Jhelum, Pakistan (Chemistry Lecturer and
Discipline In-charge) and also worked at Wisdom House Girls Middle School, Jhelum, Pakistan
as a Science Teacher in 2012.
Arfa is the proud recipient of the Chinese Academy of Sciences-The World Academy of
Sciences (CAS-TWAS) President Fellowship and the University of Chinese Academy of
Sciences (UCAS) Scholarship. She was awarded with best poster prize on her project “The
Catalytic Activities of Carbocyclic Fused Pyridineimine Nickel Complexes Analogues in
Ethylene Polymerization by Modeling Study.”

She has also bagged multiple awards and prizes in various extracurricular activities during her
student life. Throughout her career, she has been keen towards guiding and mentoring young
talent.
Apart from her philanthropic activities, Arfa is affiliated with WEmpower Pakistan as the Chief
Information Officer and works towards bridging the gap between competent students and
academia. She advises students regarding their PhD and Masters applications and scholarships.
Moreover, she has successfully organized many conferences, workshops and free lectures for
young women in STEM. In her free time, Arfa enjoys cooking, social networking, travelling and
photography.
